The Football League Fourth Division was an English football competition that preceded today's League Two. Between 1958 and 1992 it was the fourth highest competition in England. After the Premier League became independent, the competition was canceled following the reorganization of the Football League.

Until the 1986/87 season, the competition was the last competition in the English league system, and from that season onwards it descended into the Football Conference (5th highest competition). Until 1987, the Football League could only be entered by a vote of all the members of the Football League, with the vote that the last four members of the lowest division were voted on. If no applicant was found, no vote was taken. Otherwise, when a new team was asked to enter the competition, the applicant had to get more votes than one of the last four teams in the division.
