Slovak national football team-Slovenské národné futbalové mužstvo

The Slovak national football team represents Slovakia in the international football competition and is controlled by the Slovak Football Federation (SFZ), the umbrella organization for football in Slovakia. The Slovak home stadium of 2019 is the reconstructed Tehelné bar in Bratislava. Your head coach is Pavel Hapal. Slovakia qualified for two major international tournaments, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016. Slovakia qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup ™ after winning their qualifying group despite two defeats by Slovenia. At the World Cup Slovakia prevailed after a 3-2 victory over Italy beyond the group stage, before she retired after a 1-2 defeat in the knockout round against the eventual runner-up Netherlands out of the tournament. It was the first time that the national team took part in a major football competition, having played every qualifying campaign since 1998 for the FIFA World Cup and since 1996 each qualifying campaign for the UEFA European Football Championship, the Czechoslovak team. At the 2006 finals in Germany, the nation almost secured a place after finishing second in their group ahead of Russia and behind Portugal before moving into Spain's qualifying play-off, where the Slovaks lost by a wide margin (1-5, 1-1).

The national team has scored some noteworthy results such as the aforementioned defeat of then-defending Italy at the 2010 World Cup and a 1-0 win over Russia in September 2010. Despite this success, however, the team fell later in the ranking and this was accompanied by a significant loss of form, as the team could not qualify for the Euro 2012 and finished their group in fourth place. They also scored only seven goals in the group, just more than a penalty for Andorra. Slovakia then failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, but secured a place in France for headliner Ján Kozák for the 2016 European Championship, bringing the team their best ever 14th position in the FIFA World Ranking.

The traditional rival of Slovakia is the Czech Republic, who played twice in 1996 and 1997 in qualifying for the World Cup. In Bratislava she won 1: 2, in Prague she lost 0: 3, before they competed again in 2008 and in 2009 qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. In these two meetings, the teams parted in Bratislava with 2: 2, while the Slovaks won 2-1 in Prague. Before that, they also played against each other in the European Championship qualifiers and lost 3-3 in Prague and 3-3 in Bratislava.
